For Canada Immigration, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) uses a 67 Points Calculator to determine the qualification of every applicant. - Federal Skilled Workers Program
- Canadian Experience Class
To make the process of getting Canada Permanent Residency easier under the Federal Skilled Workers program, Canada 67 Points system has been introduced.
6 Selection Criteria under the FSW Program
There are six factors specified by immigration authorities under the FSW program. On this basis, points are allotted and application is assessed. Here is brief info about such factors –

- Education (25 points) – A candidate can achieve points with every certificate, degree, higher education or diploma he or she has. You need to submit original documents for everything you have learned from an overseas institution to achieve the minimum Express Entry points or submit a report for Educational Credential Assessment for qualification from a university in Canada. Candidates who have Ph.D. or Masters Degrees are eligible for higher points.
- Language (28 points) – French and English have officially spoken languages in Canada. Immigrants who want to settle down in Canada must have mastery in both or one of these languages. They must be able to speak, listen, write, and read these languages. There are certified tests conducted to test the language skills of an applicant. Candidates are able to score around 28 points on the basis of their scores.
- Work Experience (15 points) – Work experience is known to be a very important factor in the FSW program. It would be easier to achieve permanent residence if you have spent up to 30 hours a week for up to 12 months in a full-time position related to your skills. Your work experience will be treated the same for Canada by IRCC. If you have worked while studying, you can achieve more points. With over 6 years of experience, candidates can achieve 15 points.
- Age (12 points) – Age is another important factor to cross the threshold of 67 points. Each applicant who wants to qualify under the FSW program and who is above 18 years of age can acquire points as per their age. People from 18 to 35 years can get maximum points. Older applicants get lesser points than younger ones.
- Adaptability (10 points) – Along with the above points, candidates can score on the basis of the CRS score of their common-law partner or spouse. Your partner can achieve 5 points if they have a better score in language proficiency. You can achieve 5 points if you or your partner has worked in Canada or joined a Canadian university. Up to 5 points are also added if you have a blood relative who lives in Canada.
- Permanent job in Canada (10 points) – If you want to achieve a PR visa in Canada, you should have a permanent job offer from a company based in Canada. You can get up to 10 points if you have an appointment letter from your employer in Canada. It should be a full time job for 1 year, at least.
